Sugar Free Ketchup | Sugar Free Tomato Sauce Recipe

Aren’t we all tired of buying overpriced sugar free & keto ketchup or tomato sauce at our local stores? Many brands charge so much just for removing sugar while you could have homemade ketchup for under $3 for 12 ounces.

It couldn’t be any easier to make a homemade ketchup recipe as it is all about balancing the salty, sour, and sweet flavors and you’re done. The flavor tastes better than normal store-bought ketchup without all that corn syrup with high fructose.

Where else can you use sugar free & keto ketchup/tomato sauce?

Ketchup pairs perfectly with juicy burgers and fries but celebrated chefs have come up with ways to leverage its tangy and sweet flavor.

  • Glazes – Blend ketchup with sherry, soy sauce, and sesame oil to make a tasty glaze for a tofu mushroom salad. It can also be combined with curry powder, honey mustard and red wine vinegar to dress grilled salmon.
  • Meatballs – Instead of having meatballs the usual way with tomato sauce, simmer them southern style in a mixture of ketchup, Worcestershire, and currant jelly.
  • Shrimp cocktail – mix ketchup with Worcestershire, lemon, and Cajun seasoning to make a Bloody Mary-inspired cocktail sauce for shrimp.
  • Homemade BBQ sauce – A lot of homemade BBQ sauce recipes start with ketchup as the base. It only takes 30 minutes to make it.
  • Sloppy Joes – You can never go wrong with having sloppy Joes for dinner.  Mix your sugar free & keto tomato sauce with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt then add on your cooked brown beef and veggies. Cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

How long does sugar-free tomato sauce last?

Ketchup contains vinegar which helps to preserve it. It can stay fresh in a closed container in the fridge for two weeks. If you find your sugar free & keto ketchup/tomato sauce separates during storage just stir it for the water to mix with the contents again. To make a larger quantity you can freeze it in ice cube trays and store it for more than three months.
